Health Care Reform Opportunity

On the horizon and quickly closing in is September 23, 2010. An important date regarding health care reform as annual and lifetime maximums will no longer apply. The obvious thought when referring to maximums are the $1+ million caps typically associated with comprehensive medical plans. These plans will solely be amended to eliminate caps in order to maintain qualified plan status under the new definition. The removal of caps will also impact other plans which offer much lower annual and maximum benefits; namely mini-med and similar expense based programs. These programs typically built on calendar year maximum payouts will be phased out. Since quite a large number of mini-med plans exist the phasing out creates a considerable opportunity for NBP's Allied Distributors to provide solutions to clients and brokers in filling the void that is being created. Positioned properly for filling the void created is Symetra's Select Benefits.
